Designer's description: "The design brief was to create a studio space for the client's semi-professional interest in creating glass sculpture/artwork that had outgrown the present limited space available. 

The design needed to respond to the confined site at the rear of the existing family home that has stands of coastal vegetation that were to be retained if possible. Early in the discussions the client and I talked over the image of the studio
becoming something of a "tree-house" nestled amongst the native stands of trees, using materials that were not only sympathetic with the coastal environment but also resource efficient & unique. 

In particular the natural edge weatherboards used on the studio give a stunning result combined with the other materials of corrugated steel & plywood used throughout the
project. A special feature was the use of the weatherboards internally on the bay-window seat under the circular window."
